The problem:
Some OhioLINK members have experienced problems accessing OhioLINK licensed resources from off-campus. They are unable to connect or unable to authenticate.

The symptoms:
The message that you get may be: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" or "The webpage at https://auth.ohiolink.edu/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address" or "Safari can't open the page "https://auth.ohiolink.edu/ because it couldn't establish a secure connection to the server auth.ohiolink.edu."

The cause:
A security patch was applied to the authentication server over the weekend. The server will reject insecure traffic.

The fix:
Check your windows update status and make sure you have downloaded and installed the latest security updates, especially those related to your browser. You are not required to upgrade to IE8 or the latest version of your preferred browser, but you must apply all security updates. Until these are installed you will not be able to authenticate.
