IEEE Explore It's new! It's out! Some quick search advice and notes:

• previously saved search alerts will need to be re-established
• the "big search box" searches metadata, abstracts, title, and author; you MUST use the advanced search to search through the article full-text
• multiple keywords are AND'd; the old search engine phrased multiple keywords
• searches now include: auto-plurals, auto all-verb-tenses, auto British+American spellings, auto with-without hyphens searched
• article references: internally linked if IEEE; display OLINKS Find-It icon if not
• pre-pub articles now easier to find: browse transaction titles; select EARLY ACCESS; or use facet
  
• author's names are not normalized: search author surname first, then use facet to limit
  
• only the affiliation of the article's primary author can be searched in the affiliation search modes
  
• MeSH headings have been added to publications with biomedical/medical foci
• Added a publication quick search - find an item when you know part of the citation - see tab in advanced options
• If you know a standard number: use browse mode, select standard publication type, search by the number (e.g.: 802.11)
• Multimedia files presented at conferences are now attached (as zip files) at the article summary level
• eBooks have been added; searchable at the TOC level; WSU DOES NOT HAVE ACCESS TO IEEE eBOOK CONTENT

The problem:
Some OhioLINK members have experienced problems accessing OhioLINK licensed resources from off-campus. They are unable to connect or unable to authenticate.

The symptoms:
The message that you get may be: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" or "The webpage at https://auth.ohiolink.edu/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address" or "Safari can't open the page "https://auth.ohiolink.edu/ because it couldn't establish a secure connection to the server auth.ohiolink.edu."

The cause:
A security patch was applied to the authentication server over the weekend. The server will reject insecure traffic.

The fix:
Check your windows update status and make sure you have downloaded and installed the latest security updates, especially those related to your browser. You are not required to upgrade to IE8 or the latest version of your preferred browser, but you must apply all security updates. Until these are installed you will not be able to authenticate.
